An island as provenance
Islay is a distinct Scotch whisky region, particularly known for heavily peated whiskies. Yet Islay is not a complete tasting description: distillery, production, previous cask contents and maturation shape each cask differently. The highlighted island on our maps places that provenance geographically.
Consider smoke and wood together
A peated whisky can develop differently depending on its cask. Sherry or ex-bourbon describes previous contents, but does not establish the actual fill volume or automatically tell you the age of the wood. Compare the cask number, filling date and documented characteristics together. Origin is no substitute for a sample or the individual records.
